Canola

An edible vegetable oil derived from a specifically bred variety of rapeseed (Brassica napus, B. rapa, or B. juncea) that is very low in erucic acid. The name “Canola” is a contraction of Canadian Oil, Low Acid. It is highly valued for its neutral flavor, light texture, and high content of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats.

Country of Origin: The global leader in production and export is Canada, where the crop was originally developed. Other major producers/exporters include the United States, Australia, and the European Union (often marketed as rapeseed oil).
